Hello and welcome to my corner of the internet!
My name is Debra and if there's one thing you should know about me, it's that animals have been an integral part of my life. Growing up, I always had a deep love and appreciation for animals. We had cats, dogs, bunnies, birds even a pet skunk.
7 years ago I found my self without a pet in our home. My daughter had gotten her own home and taken our cat with her. It was a particularly challenging period of my life. Feeling lost and overwhelmed, I mentioned to a friend that I was ready for a dog in my life again. She said she knew just the rescue for me.
He had been abandoned, left tied up in the yard when his people moved out. She and her husband had been fostering him. So we drove to New Mexico and that’s where I met Boss. He was a sweet, gentle Am-Staff / Boxer mix with soulful eyes. For my husband, it was bringing him home changed everything. Boss offered unconditional love and companionship and provided a sense of purpose and a routine that helped me navigate my struggles. He had so much
personality. He loved our walks car rides and camping. Sadly we lost him to lymphoma after 3 short years together.
Since then, we have adopted another Pitt Bull, from the Henderson animal shelter. His name is Tony. He is our world. This snuggle boy hunts for abandoned balls at the park like other dogs hunt rabbits.
These wonderful beings have taught me so much about resilience, joy, and the importance of living in the moment. They have been my confidants, my exercise partners, and my source of endless laughter.
Adopting dogs hasn't just been about saving their lives; they have truly saved mine. Through their unwavering loyalty and affection, I’ve found strength during tough times and a sense of peace and contentment I hadn’t known before. My dogs have inspired me to advocate for animal adoption and to support local shelters in any way I can. Particularly the bully breeds that are subject to so much prejudice.
In addition to being a proud dog parent, I enjoy photography, writing and cooking which I often share with my furry friend Whether we’re exploring new hiking trails, lounging in the backyard, or simply enjoying a quiet evening at home, my dog is always by my side, reminding me of the simple pleasures in life.
Thank you for visiting my page and sharing in my journey. If you’re considering adopting a dog, I wholeheartedly encourage you to leap. You might just find that they rescue you, too.
Warm regards,
Debra ( Tony's mom)
